I, like some others, royally F****d up in High school with at 2.2 and a 1300 on the SAT but i turned my act around to have a 3.7 coming into my final year at a CCC

I know that when applying to UC's and CSU's as a transfer you dont have to send your high school information which is great...

but i want to give myself some options nationwide, looking at schools like Georgetown and Boston College, so i was wondering what prestigious schools like UCLA dont require you sending your High School information.

UPenn’s-LPS, Northwestern-SCS, and Cal’s regular undergrad (any college) require neither SATs nor high school records. All of them provide need-based aid for domestic students. With 3.7, you should be competitive at either. If I were you, I would probably try Cal, especially if you have California residency and have prereqs and IGETC completed.

its so ironic Eshug1. I have pretty much the same stats. and was wondering the same thing.
1310 SATs, 2.7 HS gpa, 3.7 GPA after my first yr at Penn State.
only difference is, I live in NJ. so the UC’s are out of the picture.

my question is. would it be better to go to UPenn for a regular economics degree at their college of LPS (NOT wharton). OR stay at penn state’s Smeal College of Business (ugrad biz progrm ranked 21 nationally by US news 2009).

Oh and to add to the list. GWU doesn’t need hs transcripts.

Thanks for making this thread. I know that I, as well as many other members of the CC forum, are in the same boat as you are and have done everything in our power to erase the foolish mistakes of our high school careers.

Penn State is great, especially if you are doing very well. If you are interested in economics in a more academic context rather than business, UPenn may be better. But I don’t know whether it would be otherwise very useful to transfer.

Btw, since you are an NJ resident, you are paying OOS to Penn State; you will probably get excellent FA at UPenn which will be a lot cheaper. That would be the main reason that I would consider transferring if I were you – you can save money and also have a much more prestigious school on your resume (but really, Happy Valley is very decent).
