What productive things will you do in the summer?

<p>Here is mine:
-Take a class in a local community college
-Run my new environmentalism club through the summer
-Get a job (I doubt it)
-Get my permit
-Volunteer at a nearby Aquarium
-& of course study for the SAT
-Read tons of classic novels =)</p>

<p>Write a novel.
Start my own online business.
Complete my uber-uber-specialized Computer Science research.
Take the extremely hard Sixth Term Examination Papers, the most difficult pre-university Maths exams known to man.</p>

<p>:D Seriously, though, what classic novels would you recommend? I too am an avid reader :).</p>

<p>Wow. Nice.
What online business are you going to start? Just curious.
Classic novels I am going to read are by Charles Dickens and Shakespeare. They’re my favorite.</p>

<p>[ul]College classes[/ul]
[ul]Study Latin![/ul]
[ul]Two-week summer program[/ul]
[ul]Finish writing my novel[/ul]
[ul]Tackle this: [101</a> Great Books](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Stay Motivated in High School – BigFuture | College Board)[/ul]
[ul]Review for the SAT out of the Blue Book (it has to be done)[/ul]
[ul]Probably prep for AP Chem and AP Physics for next year, considering that my regular chem class this year was a joke, and I’ve never taken physics. : )[/ul]</p>

<p>I think that considering what I usually do, this will be a pretty productive summer.</p>

<p>I only just began reading Dickens - I’m currently on “A Child’s History of Britain”. I heard that “Great Expectations” and “A Tale of Two Cities” are quite good as well, though.</p>

<p>As for the business - sorry. It’s a secret. Then again, I’ll probably end up making about ten sales anyway, lol… so it might not be a particularly salient EC.</p>

<p>im taking precalculus, reading some classical books, volunteer, and work!</p>

<p>I want to take a few classes at the community college here, mostly Calculus and English so that I don’t have to focus on them during the school year.</p>

<p>I’m also going to work in Vegas to save some money</p>

<p>Paint my house, maybe the outside if it doesn’t cost too much.</p>

<p>Volunteer at the Hospital or clinic.</p>

<p>I also want to start hiking, bike riding, swimming, and going to the gym more often!</p>

<p>-Finish my Eagle project
-Read
-Play tennis, basketball, football, ping-pong, hike etc. with my friends/family
-Plan out college apps
-Volunteer @ the hospital
-Work Out
-Two-a-days for football</p>

<p>These things will happen. The rest will be determined by the TASP decision.</p>

<p>-TASP</p>

<p>or</p>

<p>-Other summer program, a college-based summer session as all the worthwhile other ones have their apps closed (to my knowledge). This is unlikely as I have heard the FA for these things is not kind to late applicants : (</p>

<p>or</p>

<p>-Try to get a job and do research with a professor somewhere. I have no connections so it would just be e-mail flooding every science prof. at all colleges within driving distance and hoping one will help me.</p>

<p>Hmm…</p>

<ul>
<li>Summer Immersion Program</li>
<li>Running camp #1</li>
<li>Running camp #2</li>
<li>Study for SAT/ACT/AP</li>
<li>Work on college application</li>
<li>Visit colleges</li>
<li>Summer homework</li>
<li>Read</li>
<li>Run</li>
<li>Workout</li>
<li>Volunteer</li>
<li>Get a tan!</li>
</ul>

<p>:D Excitement!</p>

<p>If I get into MITES:

  • MITES</p>

<p>If I don’t get into MITES:

  • Calc 3
  • Diff Eqs.
  • A couple classes online
  • Hospital volunteering</p>

<p>Hmmm…</p>

<p>-Take a PE and math class online
-Drivers’ Ed
-Latin Study Group
-Find a Job (doubt it)
-Maybe a the local chamber music camp or writing camp</p>

<p>Hopefully get employed. </p>

<p>Other than that, I’ll probably end up just screwing around.</p>

<p>Considering that I did not get into RSI or TASP or MITES, I will</p>

<p>Find a job (if my mother makes me)
Write a book (my aunt is a best selling author, so I figure I have connections, y’know?)
Take Russian at UCinci if my parents let me (likely)
Take ballet over the summer if my parents will let me (very unlikely. It’s already $2000/yr)
Piano lessons unless my teacher is home in Israel, since I missed a lot this year
College visits
Learn to drive, esp. since I’ll be 17
Read a ton</p>

<p>Hmm…</p>

<p>-Write a Manifesto
-Volunteer (I currently have 0 hrs)
-Football Practice
-Workout
-Tan
-Lake
-Clubbing
-Get my car
-Rack up on ECs</p>

<p>Sleep. Sleep. Sleep.</p>

<p>In.</p>

<p>this summer if I can get it 1/30 as productive as my previous years (both summer and non-summer, and by the way, this is not an exaggeration), I’d be golden.</p>

<p>So far I have:</p>

<p>-Read 2~4 books of decent caliber (I seriously need to start reading, I’ve read…4 books in the past 2~3 years?) .
-Movies/Sleeping/Eating/Hang out with friends/and the like…
-Learn something useful for computer (since it’s what I do a lot, I figure enhancing my computer knowledge in areas would be easier and applicable…)
-Increase my music repertoire (I haven’t been doing too well in this, getting lazy)
-Exercise/sports (horrible phail, since it’s summer)
-Write a bit
-A little math to do.</p>

<p>Nothing grandiose, but it’s a lot in my eyes.</p>

<p>Rough Draft:</p>

<ul>
<li>Direct summer camp at community center</li>
<li>Play in pit orchestra</li>
<li>Get permit!!</li>
<li>Self-study APs</li>
<li>Read loads of classics</li>
<li>Take a Philosophy or Sociology class</li>
<li>Maybe go to summer camp at college for a week or two?</li>
</ul>

<p>“Sleep, sleep, sleep.”
Geez…someone sure likes to sleep a lot…</p>

<p>For me, I’m doing:

  • 6 week summer program
  • 1 week vacation (and yes, this is productive)
  • finish/publish math research project
  • hospital volunteering
  • summer training for cross-country
  • work on college essays/apps
  • plan college application stuff
  • finish summer hw
  • maybe look over AP prep books for next year</p>

<p>Mine:
-Summer school (assuming I’m admitted) for 3 weeks
-SAT prep.
-Volunteer [orphanage]
-Read. Read. Read.
-Dance Class
-Increase traffic on website then sell it.</p>

<p>volunteer at a nursing home and library, summer retreat, missions trip to Bolivia, SATs, and visit Canada</p>

<p>I might get an internship at a state university’s medical school. I really hope I do - I’ve been rejected from gov school and TASP…</p>
