I want to know what are the questions they ask on the MyMIT application for prospective international student. Are there too many questions?

International students fill out the same application as domestic students. Have you gone to their website: [The MIT Application | MIT Admissions](International applicants | MIT Admissions)

i know that the questions asked to international students are the same as domestic students. but what I meant was ‘what questions do they ask’?

The application for this year hasn’t been released yet. Sometimes MIT keeps the same essay questions from year to year, but this isn’t always the case.

Last year’s essay questions were roughly as follows, although I hope someone with access to the application might post the full wording:
- Describe something you do just for pleasure
- Which department/program at MIT are you most interested in and why
- What is the trait you are most proud of
- Describe the world you come from
- Describe a time you faced a significant challenge and how you responded to it

Each of these questions requires a rather short response (100-250 words), so it’s not as daunting as it appears.

We know you lead a busy life, full of activities, many of which are required of you. Tell us about something you do simply for the pleasure of it. (100 words)

Although you may not know what you want to major in, which department or program at MIT appeals to you and why? (100 words)

What attribute of your personality are you most proud of, and how has it impacted your life so far? This could be your creativity, effective leadership, sense of humor, integrity, or anything else you’d like to tell us about. (250 words)

Describe the world you come from; for example, your family, clubs, school, community, city, or town. How has that world shaped your dreams and aspirations? (250 words)

Tell us about the most significant challenge you’ve faced or something important that didn’t go according to plan. How did you manage the situation? (250 words)

Please tell us more about your cultural background and identity in the space below. (Optional)

The word limit is pretty strict. This past year you had about a 25 word leeway. Anything over that was not accepted.
