I have an appointment with an academic advisor and was wondering what questions I should ask. My major is public relations and I am not exactly sure what to ask. I get an hour with my academic advisor and want to make the most of it. Please let me know! (:

These are the questions I have so far:
Where can I get a full list of all the courses I need to graduate?
What tutoring services are available? How do I find them?
Should I take any classes in the summer to help graduate sooner?
What clubs/activities should I join regarding my major?
Any on campus internship opportunities I can apply for?

List of classes needed to graduate, under "Public Relations Requirements for the Bachelor of Arts
": http://catalogue.usc.edu/schools/communication/jour-undergraduate/

Summer classes are solely up to you, the public relations major is tiny and you could double major and still graduate on time without summer classes. Your summer is probably better spent doing an internship or working elsewhere.

As for clubs/activities, that is also up to you. There is nothing you absolutely must join, instead, you should join something you enjoy or have an interest in.

Your advisor will have, or will put together with you there, a four year plan for you and your major. You can see if there is room to double or add minor, and you should discuss that with her/him. A lot of the questions you have listed above are pretty generic - you could research on the web to get some answers, or at least know more about it when you go in so you ask more specific questions. Don’t just fill the hour with things you can get off the web, go in prepared to make the most of it. Couple questions I can think of - 1) You could ask about classes that may enhance or compliment your major, there may be some within other schools that would give PR major a boost, and 2) ask which GEs are the most popular/well liked or hardest to get into, and how to schedule GEs to get the ones you want most (maybe take some later than earlier, etc.) and 3) are there any online classes that USC accepts for your major that you can take in the summer to get you ahead or help you double major or add minor.
