just askin, wanted to know what was a competitive rank number for those who are applying to straight med programs.

Brown PLME: top 2% of HS class, 710 verb, 730 math
Northwestern HPME: top 1% of HS class, 760 verb, 775 math, 765 chem, 785 math2
Rice/Baylor MSP: 1350-1510 SAT

oh crap that sucks, wow, Im totally wasting away my time with those schools then, lol, I'm applying to all 3 actually. I mean im rank 3 out of 479, so thats not a problem, but wow, northwestern with their SAT avgs the only thing im in range at is the Math portions. Ouch, the rest are low 700's to 680/690's.

funkmasta,
Hang in there, here's something that I copied from last years NU HPME thread, from a guy (Buckwald) who's dad interviews for HPME and who got into the program last year:
Buckwald: as long as you get above a 650 (SAT II Chem) you will definitely still be in contention for HPME. While some colleges such as George Washington strong preference all 700+'s, Northwestern is not one of those.

Also, here are the stats of someone who got an interview in 2004 (I don't know if they got in or not):
SAT I: 1420
SAT II: Writing-700, Chem 680, IIC 710
3.60 GPA Unweighted.
2 senior year AP's.
As for extracurriculars, I'm a reporter on the newspaper, no other clubs, if you can call the paper a club.
Community Service: 150 hours at a local clinic.

It's a long thread, but you should check it out. If you're in the ballpark with your stats, your health related EC's may help you get in.

I hava friend who got into Brown PLME

1260 SAT, 29/900 in his class

Not sure about EC's, but had the most obviously glowing personality of anyone I had ever met.

he got into Brown PLME, every other Ivy league school, and went to Brown......BUT REJECTED PLME

don't ask me why.
