Aside from the obvious, do they carry a significant role in an applicants rejection or admission?

Also, my Exeter interviewer's business card said "Senior Associate of Admissions". Is this just a fancy way of saying 'interviewer'? Or does she have multiple roles at Exeter, one being the senior associate of admissions. :)

I'd say interviews have a fairly significant role in admissions. Most interviewers aren't just interviewers and work for the admissions office. One of their duties as an admissions associate is interviewing prospective applicants. They have other things to do as a well with this job other than interviewing people.

If the card read "senior associate dean/director of admissions," that means he/she was the second-most senior person in the admission office, with the Exeter dean/director of admissions (Michael Gary) being the most senior person.
