What rooms are left for Fall/Spring 2010-11

^ Springs 1 |

At the beginning, I thought there was nothing left and I don’t believed what Housing said:

but looks like it’s true, just keep checking and be fast, the late triple that I had was gone in seconds.

Is there any way to see ALL available rooms instead of scrolling through each hall and checking individually?

No, idk why they don’t that.

lr2010 has given great advice.

Don’t give up in dorm selecting. You need to ‘snipe’ it when you see it! I didn’t even know we were supposed to be selecting our own fall dorms(forgotten). I was afraid I would be stuck with a late triple, so around 5-7pm I kept checking each area. Everyday there are cancellations, so new slots are open. You wouldn’t believe how many are freed up.

I managed to snipe an apartment at Lakeside. Do you all think I should keep it, or go for a Trusler dorm?

I’ll be checking every minute for the next three days. I’m armed with coffee and and a persistent attitude. Watch out kids haha.

^ That is what I wanted to see! Keep checking.

@Dracos: It’s good you got a Lakeside apt but remember that those are the most expensive and if you want money back for your personal expenses and you are going to buy a Meal Plan, you are not going to get a lot of money. So, unless money is a problem Lakeside is a great place (remember that is far from the campus, however, you can use the bus system). But if you change Lakeside for Trusler, that would be a sin  lol try to get Springs but for know Lakeside is fine.

can i get an update for what is open for girls, please :)

For the ladies, here are the rooms that are left as of 4:55pm June 28:

Broward: many late app triples/1 triple
Rawlings: 1 late app triple with 1 vacancy
Graham/Simpson/Trusler: some late-app triples
Buckman/Thomas (no A/C): 5 triples
North/Riker/Tolbert/Weaver: late-app triples/1 triple in Riker
Mallory/Reid/Yulee: Late-app triples
Jennings: some late application triples

I have a little question, Do we (the residents) have to clean the rooms or is someone in charge of that?

Pretty sure you gotta clean them yourself…unless I missed something lol

How much space is underneath the bed fully raised? I will be in Simpson Hall in August, someone said 36" but I wanted to be sure considering the under bed storage. Thanks.

Can someone do a room update for the males? My selection date isn’t until July 16, I’m starting to think I’m totally screwed.

You are.

My date was June 25th, there was absolutely nothing then, and there’s still absolutely nothing now.

Damn that sucks. So are you just checking everyday to see if something is going to show up? I’m still going to wait until my selection date just in case something opens up before looking into off campus housing. I don’t see how they could have assured me that I would have housing and then now it’s already full? That’s really screwed up.

Yep I just keep checking.

You don’t have to look into off campus housing though because we’re still guaranteed a spot in on campus housing as we’re already bound by the contract. They say this happens every year but this is the first time that we actually notice because we get to go online and pick the rooms ourselves now.

But yeah I’m guessing we’re gonna be stuck in a late application triple somewhere…

There is a Broward Rawiling late triple for male! go and get it before its gone!

EDIT: it’s gone

@BeKind Thanks for the info, that explanation makes sense and makes me less apprehensive. I’m still just crossing my fingers that I don’t get stuck with ****ty roommates.

No problem dude.

lr I’m so disappointed that that would happen when I’m not home!

Hi guys! it seems like all the on-campus dorms are full.

I just wanted to make sure you knew that there are other housing options available for your first year at UF, specifically Luxury Dorms. You should check out Windsor Hall which is next to UF. They are less expensive and closer than most traditional on-campus dorms (you can walk everywhere from the luxury dorms—class, the Reitz, University Avenue, and Midtown!) I lived in one of them last year and I literally could just sleep in late and just get up to walk to class.

I personally liked living at the Luxury Dorms much better than my on-campus dorm freshmen year. Instead of sharing a bathroom with a hallway of girls, I only had to share with one other person. Plus, the Luxury Dorms are a lot bigger than the traditional dorms. I remember last year my friends and I hung out by the pool after class and everyone was super friendly there.

Anyways you can check out more pics, videos and more of Windsor Hall and Ivy House at www.luxurydormsuf.com. Email me at UniversityChick123@gmail.com if you have any questions about dorm stuff!
