I am currently majoring in Art Education and considering minoring in Art history? What jobs could I get with an Art History minor? Would it help me get a job in the art education field? Is it possible that an Art Education minor could help me get a job in a separate field as well?
You might consider for example these fields –
arts administration (every art org needs people to help it go–grants writing, office admin, budgeting, etc.)
arts writing / journalism.
If you were my child I would suggest picking up the arts classes that you love, of course, and then also some courses such as –
- data analysis and data visualization
- grants writing courses
- development (fundraising)
- computer skills -- web design, graphic design, social media skills (mad good ones not just "I have a Twitter account")
- Any sort of business (accounting) or marketing classes.
- Plant maintenance and management.
- Internships in the above.
All arts orgs need to market themselves, raise money, keep their facilities running. You could be that person. Combining the list of skills with an arts degree will be key because most people have one set or the other set but few have both. Best of luck to you.
