What’s the scoop with 1800 flowers?

I’m just curious if anyone knows the back story with 1800 flowers customer service? Where is there service center? What are the work conditions there?

I’m asking because I used their service today and received an email that the flowers were delivered and the person I sent them to said they didn’t receive them. I called to discuss that they were maybe delivered to the wrong house. I had a bizarre conversation with a rep who didn’t seem to follow what I was asking, finally offered to re-deliver the flowers 2 days later, and then when I asked to speak with her supervisor she spent 25 minutes trying to convince me not to. When we came to a resolution, she sounded so grateful and told me she was afraid of losing her job and how she really needed it. I don’t get it, the issue wasn’t her fault. She shouldn’t have been scared. This just seems weird. She had an accent but I can’t place it. I’m wondering if the call center is in a country that has terrible work conditions, or whether I just had an oddball rep. Any input?

IDK about the working conditions of 1-800-flowers but I finally got my dh to stop using them!

I am a huge plant/flower person (grow a lot of my own). My dh would always use 1-800 to send me flowesr on my birthday. The quality was never good and the cost was high. I finally got him to just call a local florist (Google for whatever location you are in) and order directly. For less money (you’ve cut out the middle man) I would get a better quality arrangement.

I know not your question but I had to share. It’s so easy!

Agree that 1-800-flowers often winds up with poor results. I think they farm out the florists who are the cheapest bidders, definitely not the best quality. I received arrangements that were truly pathetic from people who I know are generous and spent a decent amount of money.

I recommend always researching and directly contacting a florist in the area where you recipient lives. The internet has made that process easier.

Thanks for the heads up on the quality issue. I’m still shocked, though, at how this customer rep acted. She sounded like she was foreign (so wondering if this was a foreign call center) and that she was truly scared of losing her job for a negative call. I felt as if I were this cushy American who had power over her livelihood. It was a bizarre conversation, and I’m not sure if the rep was playing me or if this is her reality. I hope she was playing me. If this is her reality, then I think 1800 flowers has a duty to ensure that the companies it outsources it’s work to provide humane working conditions.

Interesting to note that the company also owns many other businesses including Harry & David, The Popcorn Factory, Cheryl’s Cookies, and Shari’s Berries.
