I have to say I’m pretty darn happy sitting on the beach and reading this week while it’s snowing at home. Just saying!!
We live in paradise. It’s a short few blocks to the ocean and a only 10-30 minute drive to the mountains or several nice hiking trails. When I vacation, I don’t look for beaches or water.
For vacations, I love the national parks and wide open spaces. I find them very serene, especially when we are there off-season and there are few or no crowds.
I like cities for their museums (one/day max) and their dining—eating out at least once/day is part of the charm of vacation.
I like seeing new places as well as revisiting places we like, especially if loved ones are there.
We are fine with vacationing to visit relatives & loved ones. It’s what we do that makes a vacation.
My kids are now 18 & 22. We spent many years traveling to see family(which is nice) or doing all the normal little kid vacations/mini-vacations. Like amusement parks or water parks.
We are moving on to more resort type vacations. Last Xmas we tested it out in Scottsdale. This Xmas we are going to try Cabo. We are more pool people than beach. Overall we don’t want many things scheduled on vacations now. We used to have full days no more.
