What Safeties do you love?

I'm really warming up to Fordham, fantastic campus, great location

UWashington was my favorite, mostly because it was in Seattle, great for sciences, lots of diversity, in a great location (though the rain can be a bit monotonous after a while.) Plus, the honors program is amazing.

I'm investigating Guilford. The tuition is incredibly affordable, btw.

Lewis & Clark, UC Santa Cruz, and Oregon.

DePaul most likely and maybe Loyola Chicago, depending on how my visit goes next week...

my safty will either be UofT, UWO, of Mcgill depending on what I decide to major in if its something science-ish then
Mcgill, if business the UWO or UofT (UWO looks good atm but I'm not sure about their living spaces)

Wisconsin Madison!

I've recently come to love University of Arizona.

I used to say I would never ever ever ever go in state. But after finally visiting the school, I love the campus. The honors program definitely gives me the academic feel that I am looking for in a school, despite it being on the larger side. As much as I hate to admit it, I love Arizona and seeing as I plan on moving somewhere else once I finish school...I may as well enjoy as much time here as I can now. The only thing I am worried about with this in state safety, is that sooooo many people I know go there. But with 30,000 students, I'm sure I can break away from my comfort zone.

Some days of the week, I think about only applying to U of A and nowhere else. Haha, that's how much I've come to love it.

My safety is Mizzou, and it's one of my top choices.

I work as a counselor in a small high school. I see a few of my secret, well loved safeties are posted! I love University of Vermont and University of AZ (good merit $). I would NEVER consider Boston College a safety. University of Washington gives almost no $ to out of state students.

A few other safeties my kids like: University of San Francisco, San Francisco State, Gonzaga, Tulane (that may be changing)

I absolutely love Penn State and it's my safety, but I live in PA, it's harder OOS.

My safeties are Stanford and Cornell.
And by Stanford and Cornell, I mean UC Davis and UCSD, those of which I both love and would have no problem going to.

University of Oregon, University of Washington
George Washington, U of Miami

McGill would not be a safety in science. There are likely 0 American students in McGill Science for two reasons: A) much more selective than its Art program, B) The Quebec science curriculum is much stronger than American HS science and other Canadian HS systems (I'll explain)

Throughout the years McGill has had very successful alumni, particularly in science, now how many of those are American (apart from natralized citizens, ex: Steven Pinker)? The fact of the matter is McGill has the highest entering average in the country and can therefore select from some of the best students in Canada, they wouldn't want to tarnish their reputation by accepting too many only above average students from the US (granted Americans are usually much more ambitious than Canadians), even if it's only for the money. Also US students are no competition for Quebec CEGEP students who have already taken some of the courses and labs when their American counterparts were still enjoying the easier years of academic life. McGill Science also won't offer the oppurtunity (which Arts students have) of completing their degree in three years, it would usually take 4-6 years for American students to complete a BSc. or engineering degree. You also can't enjoy the amenities of a city like Montreal if you're a Science student in McGill, because it's a much more difficult program (to put it simply, you'll have less time to party and spend your huge college fund on booze). That said I know of American Arts students who have done very well there and moved on to better universities in their fields, so it can be an upgrade or a safety depending on what your options are but practically every American (who has done his/her homework) will be in Arts.

I was surprisingly impressed with Hobart & William Smith. It was a beautiful campus.
