"What SAT Physics and Math Level 2 books should I get?" SAT Subject Test book reviews

Barrons is also good.

if i use casio fx-570ES for SAT Math level 2, will that harm me?It seems like I cant afford those expensive calcu’s and all of my life im used to using Casio calcu’s.another thing,im registered for June 1 math level 2 and i think im pretty good in college math(though i studied in Bangla here in Bangladesh).I’ve purchased PR for math 2.will that do?

@rafsanthegreat I have a scientific calculator too. In my opinion, apart from a few questions you do not really need a graphing calculator. It is better and a lot easier but not absolutely necessary. I got a 780 without a graphing calculator. Rather than PR , I would suggest that you use Barron. It is a lot harder but it is the best for maths :)

This is great thanks! It gave me an Idea of what scores I can expect on the real thing :D

@confusedabtuni thanks buddy.it seems like u’r pretty experienced! can u tell me how should i take my approaches i mean how can i best optimize this less than one month period for math level 2…routine,schedule,strategy…anything u’ve found useful. my target is 780-800.i’m registered for june 1 math level 2.anybody who gained a 780 or 800 plz share ur thoughts and of course strategies.thanks in advance!

@rafsanthegreat: It is my pleasure
Haahaa yeah I guess. I wrote the Maths SAT today too.
Sure. I am an international student. I study under the Indian Curriculum. Though I did cover quite a lot at school, there were quite a few topics not covered especially the graphs. This problem was aggrevated due to the lack of a graphing calculator, According to me, the most important thing is practice. My weak area was the graphs. I did go the review but mainly did as many papers as I could find. If course, it is useless to do the papers without knowing the matter. What I personally did is that I did one paper and figured out my weaknesses. Remember that knowing all the theory and not practising is not going to help you. You need to know both. Only practice will help you to manage your time and help you to prepare your game plan.
Another thing that we often forget is that you do not need to answer all the questions to get 800. If you think you cannot answer something, just skip it. There is no use losing 1/4 mark over it
I hope you will be able to make some sense out of what I have written. If you need any help, I will be happy to help :)

thanks confusedabtuni it was really informative!

Can a TI-Nspire CAS with Touchpad be used on my PSAT/SAT? I read a review that its not allowed.

Definitely Barrons for Math Level 2.

Hi,
I am going to grade 10 next year and am planning to study for an external exam during the summer. My school’s math is pretty intense so you could presume I had finished grade 10 material (Enough material for the SAT Reasoning Math test, which I have not answered yet). I was wondering whether to self-study SAT Math level 2 or AP Calculus BC. I have not had any Precalculus courses so far and am able to devote 1 hour per day during the summer. I am really good at Math and have already self-studied and sat for 3 AP exams Psychology, Macroeconomics and Human Geography (5,4 and 3 were my respective scores). Thank you

Really helpful article. I am planning to take Math II and Physics in November. Thank you for all your effort!
Btw, what is your opinion about the Dr. Chang’s Math II book?

Should we still use the 2011-2012 Edition of Cracking the SAT Physics Subject Test by The Princeton Review which is recommended here in the first post or the 2013-2014 version?

Yeah, someone answer the above post.

I have always used a casio scientific calculator in maths but want to purchase a scientific calculator, would it be hard to learn to use in 2 months (summer)? Or will using the scientific calculator be a big disadvantage if i want to score between 750-800 in the level 2 test?

For the SAT subject test Physics Barron’s SAT Subject Test Physics is the best
http://amzn.to/1pGFMH9</a>
and for the Mathematics Level 2 the Barron’s SAT Subject Test Math Level 2

Can someone post the link for the Sparknotes Practice Test for Physics?

I need it ASAP. Please…

I am going to take both ACT and SAT Math Level 2, but TI-Nspire CAS is not allowed on the ACT. Is TI-Nspire enough for the Math 2?

I can’t seem to find the Sparknotes’ practice tests. Are they online, or do I have to buy the book? Because I’m international, so it would be a bummer to have to wait i-don’t-know-how-long to see if it comes, and it may not even ship to here. Can I pay the $5 in the website? Somebody help? >.<

Bump because this is relevant now
