What SAT score do you need?

I'm a junior, and I'm interested in Cornell and want to apply next year. What score should I be looking at? What's the average score of cornell applicants?

it depends on the school for which you apply to

for arts/sci, i would say around a 1410-1430 is competitive

for engineering, probably around 1420-1450, with better math/science scores

for the other schools, sat scores mean less, but most of the other schools fall around 1320-1360

g l uck

I have that US News service and according to them, the 25th percentile is a 1290 and the 75th percentile is a 1480. BTW, you'll see most people on CC applying with 1400's+, but you have to realize most CC'ers looking at the Cornell board are the very best students. I myself plan on applying ED with a 1310 which is of course on the lower side. If you're wondering ACT, the 25th percentile is a 28 and the 75th percentile is a 32.

mike... To which school do you plan to apply? Do you have any information or anecdotes about acceptances of students with scores under 1400 (other than the stats of what constitutes the 25th and 75th percentiles)? Thanks for sharing what you know.

I'm planning on applying to Arts and Sciences. Cornell does not really give away much admissions statistics from what I searched for. The stats I gave are just a profile of the freshman class. For the english portion, over 50% of the freshman scored below a 700 and 40% scored below a 700 on the math.

Thanks. Impressive that you're already up and thinking about college at this hour.

dont get discouraged or influenced by what you see on this site, b/c unfortuantely it presents a skewed image because all the kids are like the best of the best. in this case my sat's are pretty good (1410), but my gpa isnt over 4 like everyone elses. if it helps these are my stats... i'm applying ed to human ecology
