what school is best for engineering?

I dont know what to do

I am an Engineering Major and really confused about what College to attend next fall
Rice
Univeristy of Pennsylvania
Duke University
Harvey Mudd College
Carnegie Institute of Technology
USC?

Which one has the name, and a good rep when it comes to jobs and recruitment! Thanks Alot

i would say harvey mudd.

HMC is great, but its name value and reputation seems to be lacking.

reputation among ordinary people, maybe. but anyone working in the engineering industry should know hmc.

haha. i'm from hmc. all i gotta say is that i wish i could tell about one of the current projects i'm working on. i've had absolutely no trouble working where-ever i want... and i'm a sophomore. reputation: solid engineers.

That depends. In the west coast it's known, but move to the East and HMC becomes much more obscure among employers. At least from my experiences.

MIT, duh....

check it out on the US News website

Engineering at Harvey Mudd, Caltech, and Carnegie Mellon are all top-notch. Pick the school based on fit and how well you will enjoy the next four years.

mr_k, i hope that your blunt reaction is a joke.
i have researched this topic for several years- i think you are underestimating people's judgement on this forum and overestimating the usefulness of USNR.

i'd pick several schools over mit for engineering for undergrad...
olin college
harvey mudd college
caltech (for engineering sciences)
india institute of technology (if i was bad-@$$ and into electronics)

I think for engineering I'll have to say Harvey Mudd. Cal Tech for Physical sciences like Physics, etc.. Carnegie Mellon for Computer Science.

^ lol gotta love that screename

one more vote for mudd.

Maybe you guys should stick to the OP's choices of schools?

Also depends what type of engineering you want to do..I heard UPenn has a real bad ass research program with nanotechnology, available for undergrads.

USC- one of the best electrical engineering schools, know a lot of fantasitc professors there.

"i'd pick several schools over mit for engineering for undergrad..."

Frankly, I doubt the OP cares which you or anyone else would choose.

To the OP: HMC has one of the best undergrad engineering programs, but I hardly think you could go wrong with the other ones on your list.

Duke has a very good engineering school as well, (top 20 in all their programs) but they don't have as many fields.

If you are 100% sure going to be an engineer, HMC is the place to go. If you aren't so sure (or want to double major), I would go to Duke.
