Currently I am attending a rather well-regarded community college in Illinois for a mixture of financial reasons as well as lackluster high school performance. So far grades are going very well as are my extracurriculars so I was wondering what colleges it would be best to transfer too.

Right now, my candidate is UIUC, but I am also considering Loyala. Right now I am probably planning an Economics degree, but I don't know which school's is better, or whether or not there is a 3rd one that s better than both(that I can also transfer into. U of C is too elitist to allow CC transfers). I am also considering pursuing Law if I preform very well on the LSAT and can get into a Top 14 school, but only then. The surplus of Law graduates means I'm not going that route unless I completely excel.

I am also considering Computer Science but that is a maybe, and I already know UIUC would be excellent if I take that route. So for now I just am concerned with Economics.

So which one has a better economics program, UIUC, Loyala, or another?

Bump. Although comp sci is looking like a better and better choice.

UIUC is one of the best public universities in the country and since you are in state, it will likely cost less than Loyola.

apply to several and see where you get in and what is affordable.

Have you asked your parents how much they’ll pay? if not, do so. and have them run the NPCs.

Transfers often get lousy aid.

Thank you guys for the advice!

I’ve decided not to do Computer Science because I’m not a math person, and although econ is math heavy,I am very passionate about it.

When I refer to Loyala I mean Loyala in Chicago, not in Maramount at LA. I’ve heard their very prestigious.

UIUC is also not very well known for their business school so I want to know which would be better.
