I want to apply ED to agriculture and life sciences, but you have to pick a major for that school and I dont know which majors are easiest to be accepted for. I wanted to do biology, but I know that is the most competitive...any ideas?

how about apply to a school that has the major you like rather than apply to a school and a major just because it's easy to get into. If you want to study biology, then apply as a biology major.

I think Gomestar's right. Do not try and game the system. It'll shine through when you write your academic interest essays.

There are many ways to study biololgy at Cornell. Study the options carefully and select the one that fits you best - then you'll have the best shot at getting in.

affirmative

If you're not sure what you want to study, why would you apply ED to a school where you have to pick a set major?

The difficulty of admission to any school and major at Cornell is going to be similar and it's unlikely you'll be so borderline that you need to pick based on ease of acceptance. As Wharf Rat said, it will work against you if you apply to a major that you are not as interested in. However, there are majors similar to Biology at CALS you could consider.

for people thinking about studying biology at Cornell:

Also, here's the official answer to your question:

BTW - look at the redesign of the admissions website... looking cool!

yeah it was definitely in need of a redesign haha

thanks a lot, really helpful!

btw, if you are instate, you should consider cals over arts and sciences because the bio major is identical for both of the schools. you will be paying a lot cheaper for the same education.
