I will be starting eight grade this coming fall, and since I have just found out about boarding schools, I have become quite interested in them. So I was wondering if anyone could possibly see what schools I would fit in best at? Thanks!

My Stats:

GPA: 4.0 (all A+s in the last semester)
Rank: School doesn't rank but top 3 out of 80
School Type: Small Private

I'm a strong Math and English student, and I would love to attend a school with more rigorous academics. I have not taken the SSATs yet, I will be doing them this coming January and expecting about a 97-99 percentile average. The problem is, my school does not offer any honors/advanced classes and rarely give out awards. There are also very little choice of ECs at my school, mostly sports. I have been playing the guitar for 2 years now and will do so in high school. I am very interested in creative writing, and I would prefer a school with a strong math program! I play girls' soccer and I swim competitively. I have also won several regional and national awards for my writing. I will be a full-paying student, and I am from an under-represented Asian country.

What school would you think fit me best? I am currently interested in Andover, Deerfield, Lawrenceville, Exeter and Hotchkiss. Also, if you would tell me what my chances roughly are, that'd be amazing! Thanks.

Narrow down the choices by yourself here: www.boardingschoolreview.com because only you know what suits your needs and wants. Once you have a " short list", return to this form ans search for the schools you have chosen. If you can’t fund the specific answers you need doing that, feel free to ask away here! You will certainly get the answers you are looking for…

Honestly, I’m with london203 here, check boardingschoolreview first… however… I do think you should look at Mercersburg (it’s hilarious because I keep saying look at Mercersburg to other people while I’m going to attend their rival school Saint James, which is also worth a look). Mercersburg has one of the BEST swimming teams in the country (or so my dad said), and their arts center is brand new. When I went there I thought it was a bit too “preppy”.

I’ll tell you this like I’ve told everyone: the schools you are applying to are all extremely competitive. It’s like applying to only Ivy League’s for college, it’s really risky. Even though you’re expecting high SSAT results, sometimes that’s just not enough. Look at the Hidden Gem’s thread on CC, just search it and you should be able to find it. You’ll find schools that are great all around but not as well known, so generally a lot of them are easier to get into. Think of it as your “safety” schools so to speak. Trust me, I’ve gone through the process, and rejection is not fun. Make sure you have something to lean on and who knows, maybe you’ll like it better! Honestly, the best of luck to you, you’re going to need it!
