Hi, I'm currently entering my junior year of high school, live in New York and starting to visit colleges. I want to major in animal science/pre-vet with an emphasis in equine science.I really like The University Of Maryland college park and Penn State University Park and maybe Michigan State. My reach school obviously will be Cornell. I really want to go to Cornell for grad school not undergrad.Would anyone of these schools be better for trying to get into Cornell for vet school? Or give me an edge. I know I'm getting ahead of myself but I like to have a plan!!! Thankssss B-)

Are you sure Stony Brook, UB, UAlbany are out of the question for undergrad?

They really don’t have what I’m looking for.

UC Davis has the best biological and animal science programs in the country. Standford is also good but in general bio, not to much animal science.

Here’s the list of colleges I’m applying to/interested in, it has a * next to it if it offers animal science. All of these have good-strong STEM programs, which are the most common ungrad majors for pre-vets.:
UC Davis-Davis,CA
Ohio State-Columbus,OH
Cornell-Ithacha,NY
MIT-Boston,MA
CalTech-Pasadena,CA
Clemson-SC
American University in Paris-France
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo*
Virginia Tech*
Purdue-Indiana
Washington State
University of Illinois Urbana Champaign
Yale-NUS College-Singapore
University of Guelph*-Guelph,Canada
Standford -Palo Alto,CA
Amherest-MA

NOTE: You can chooses any undergrad major you want, it doesn’t have to be in STEM.All you have to do is be a ble to complete the required courses.

Thanks Kimberly! I have done some more searching and The University of Findlay seems to have a great Animal Science /Pre-vet program. I heard but I don’t know if its true but Supposedly about 60%of Findlay pre-vet students make it into vet school and its twice the national average. Anyone heard of this?? I saw this on a couple of sites. And you get to administer shots, do castrations and dehorning all at your first year at the university. So is this to good to be true? I’m really focusing on going to a college where I can get hands on experience and has their own farm. So after further thought this are the colleges Im looking at.
Michigan state
Ohio state
University of Maryland
University of Findlay
University of Vermont
Sweet Briar- idk but it looks like a cute college but doesn’t have any special hands on experience, just all the pre reqs and a cute riding program
Pennsylvania State University
Tufts University
UConn
Cornell

Yes and no. Good list!
