A common thread on many of the forums seems to be the waitlist and if the college is accepting students form the list. I thought it would help to make a list of schools that are definitely accepting kids from the list, and schools that arent.

georgetown, harvard, MIT, cornell, duke, caltech are taking a fair amount off... im not sure of any colleges that arent accepting any off the waitlist

Davidson I know is moving

Harvard is accepting from the waitlist?

Where did you hear that Cornell is "taking a fair amount off".

From what I hear, College of Arts and Science isn't even going to look to the waitlist this year, others are unsure at the moment.

Harvard is NOT taking a lot from the waitlist. It sent a letter to alumni inteviewers saying that very few students would be accepted from the waitlist.

From the Harvard Gazette:

"
Eighty percent of students admitted to the Class of 2010 will matriculate at the College next year, giving Harvard its highest yield in over a quarter century, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid William R. Fitzsimmons 67 said yesterday.

Fitzsimmons attributed the high yield primarily to the expanded Harvard Financial Aid Initiative (HFAI), which this year made Harvard free to all students whose parents earn less than $60,000 a year, up from a previous annual salary of $40,000.

Of the 2,109 students who received acceptance letters, 1,684 will attend the College. Because Harvard only aims to enroll 1,675 students, Fitzsimmons said that only five or six students will be admitted off the wait-list this year.

This years yield represents a 1.5 percent increase over last years rate, which was the highest in the nation. ..."

Northwestern is using its waitlist...I don't think Harvard or Cornell are using their waitlist very much this year...

Pomona is going to the waitlist.

Smith has started going to the wait list.

Emory and WashU are NOT going to the waitlist.

Duke and UVA already took some off the waitlist.

MIT had taken 30, i believe. and my buddy's celebration blast because of it was intense...one happy cheesehead.

Since when does Georgetown go heavily to the waitlist? I thought they were notorious for not doing that...

I was WLed by Georgetown and was rejected today. This year, Georgetown isn't taking many applicants off the WL.

UChicago is not going to waitlist.

What about UPenn and Columbia??
Anyone got off the waitlist??

I know Dartmouth says they aren't, but if there is any summer attrition they will take 15 kids tops.

My buddy got accepted to Yale last friday I think after being WLed.

The Parents forum has a long list about WL movement.

Michigan is going to the waitlist. This is unusual for them.
