I'm having trouble finding a core where my stats actually "fit." 2030 on the SAT hoping it will go up next October to above a 2100. 3.76 unweighted GPA 4.2 weighted. In the top 10% of my class (barely.) Only I took 1 AP and one pre-AP this year and will be taking 4 next year. Also my EC's include Class President, Won at states and competed at nationals for Business Professionals of America, in the honor society, in the Foreign Language Activity Group, and in the Leo Club. Also I am on the Cross Country Team, and though it is not official yet will probably be one of the Track captains for my team. So my question is what schools can I actually get into? It seems I'm above average but not really Ivy material... So what schools should I look into?

Princeton, def.

^^^ not unless he’s URM or first generation…this year Princeton accepted just over 8%.

I’m a URM with a 2230 SAT. I also has several leadership positions. I got rejected.

It’s all in the essays, bro.
It’s all in the essays.

Shoot, delawareguy, there are all kinds of schools where you’d be competitive! You’ll have to give people a few more details for them to help you narrow this down. So far what we have is “not Ivy.” Well, yeah, probably not–likely not.

I’m sorry I’m not being more specific. I’m also sorry i meant to spell “school” and wrote “core” in my original post. Well where would I be competitive just give me an example because I’m at a loss. I was looking at GW, American U, Northeastern, and Maryland but now those all seem like safety schools… Or am I wrong in that assumption?

Well, those schools seem in your range, comfortably so. Whether they’re safeties (or matches)–you’d have to do some more sleuthing. Bottom line, a safety is a school where you would be shocked beyond belief not to get in. A match is one where you’re comfortably in the middle 50 percent. More important is what you want to study, where you want to be, how much you can afford, etc. I recommend the Fiske Guide as a start to get a feel for different places.
