What schools are good for Public Relations/Communications?

I don't know if PR and Communications are similar or not but I was thinking about what my strengths were today and I came to realize that I am really great with people and I like dealing with people.

What would one major in if he or she is seeking to become like a PR Director or something? And what are some schools that are good for that field?

Are there schools that are good for both Pre-med AND Communications? Maybe I can major in one and minor in another. (Wishful thinking here! LOL)

Anyhow, any suggestion/comment is appreciated! :)

WEll first, with Public Relations, do you want to go into Web, Television, Radio, Marketing/Advertisement, or Politics, public relations is pretty broad, and many school do better in different areas...

the only clearthing is that Northwestern will have the best package overall for you.

I wanna go into like Media/Advertising.

University of Southern California has an excellent School of Communications. I believe UC Berkeley does also. By way of another route, Pomona College for example has a Media Studies major.

To broaden your search, look for colleges that have communications, media and film departments. also, if you are interested in advertising, schools with Business Admin. departments often have marketing majors. Again, I believe USC has any and all of these majors for a place to start your search.

And if you're torn between the pre-med and communications route in addition to the media studies major, Pomona has amazing stats in terms of med school acceptance.

To get a list of schools with these various majors and with many searches if you start with something as simple as a Google search, you'll be amazed at what you can find. There's also a website that I think is called college recruiting.com and you plug in whatever parameters, majors etc. and you get a list of all schools that fit the description. Good luck

The best resources for me was PrincetonReview.com, the counselor -o-matic is a great tool that will give you a good idea for reaches, matches, & safeties...they seperate tem for you too.

Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications

Facilities

Profs who are tops in their field with recent real-world experience

Look at the grads....amazing

Internship opprtunities, especially in NYC over the summer

USC, Boston University, American University, Syracuse, Northwestern, UT-Austin

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse with this one, but pre-med is not a major. A person could easily major in communications AND be pre-med, so long as he/she takes the required basic science courses.

I presume the same applies for Pre-Law?

I agree, Syracuse Newhouse is excellent.
