What schools are not using the the Writing Section

I recently visited Georgetown and found out they plan on not viewing the scores of the new writing section at all. I was wondering what other schools will not be considering the new writing section scores.

Northwestern won't

A lot of the "less prestigious" state U's that I've looked at don't need it.

Bighamton, and pehaps the whole SUNY system, is not (they never used SAT IIs at all for that matter).

i believe some of the Tech schools, Caltech and MIT.

MIT is another notable exception. The Ivies+Stanford will consider the writing score, but it will not have as much weight as math+cr.

georgetown? awesome man!

shoegal2, where did you hear that Northwestern won't be considering the writing section?

in information session i went to. the guy said that, pretty much, theyre not sure how to handle it so they'll mainly just consider cr and math

does anyone know if MIT has any official releases that say it won't consider the writing score?

Yah - the admissions head guy said it in a press conference.

Penn State

Rhodes College

"i believe some of the Tech schools, Caltech and MIT."

really? that's great news! will they keep the same policy for class of 07?

I doubt it.

:( (10 chars)

=( awwwww.

official from the people when i was there:

UVa, Princeton, UPenn.

Wow, are you serious? That's great! I know writing is easy and tests a couple grammar rules, but the scale was absolutely ridiculous. I'm glad colleges are being flexible with the changes because I think collegeboard really screwed up with the new SAT. The old system, in my opinion, was working just fine.

I just went to Penn state and UPenn and they actually told me that after you meet a certain range for the SAT (when i say SAT i mean the new one with only the math and cr sections added together with writing excluded) they white out your SAT score and look at your other credentials.
