What schools attend Unified not listed

Hi - we are headed to the Chicago Unifieds where my S has set up auditions for a number of "reach" schools. We are very concerned that this may not work out the way he's planned and would like to know if there will be some less competitive schools there. The schools listed on the Unified website seem to all be tier one schools. Are there any schools that go that might be "safety" schools? If we knew ahead of time, he could do some research to see what schools might work. He plans to do any "walk ins" that he can. Thanks for any feedback. This is overwhelming and we would hate to see him come away from this experience with no success.

I know University of Wisconsin- Steven’s Point will be in Chicago the same dates. I’m not entirely sure if they’re at the same location however.
Definitely not a “reach” school, but an excellent program! They audition in the 100’s for MT and 70 ish for straight acting. Miss Laura Osnes herself attended there! I visited in the summer. They have great facilities.
It’s worth it to check it out!

In this thread there are a list of schools that were at Chicago Unifieds for 2012. I haven’t seen a similar list for 2013, but perhaps this will help you.

Look at Ohio Northern – they were there a couple years ago for sure. Neat program.

Coastal Carolina University will be in Chicago. You do not have to submit a prescreening video to audition for CCU in Chicago.

I am guessing you realize no audition school can be considered a safety but there are so many more that attend Unifieds that are not listed at all on that website and some are biggier names like CMU and Syracuse. There were others like Long Island University, Ohio Northern, Dean, Western Michigan(Acting only), Nebraska Wesleyan(requires pre-screen this year).

I would suggest researching schools off of the big list and check their website to see if they go to Unifieds. Also when you check-in ask for a list of the schools that are there. Go on the floors where most of the schools are and get the lay of the land so you can sign up for walkins early Monday morning, some may even have a clipboard out on Sunday night. Some schools are also located in the suites on the 11th and 12th floors and some had clipboards on the outside of the door for walk-ins

If he finds other schools he is interested, it would be wise to set up the auditions ahead of time as many schools fit their walk-in slots very quickly.

I have the same question for Unifieds in NYC in January - how do I find out what other schools with be there that aren’t on the list??

You can look on the thread GSOMT mom posted to see who was there last year. And you can check the websites of the non-unified schools you’re interested in.
