-my school is well known in the area and in the top 25 in the state.
-had a horrible GPA of 2.6 through my 9th/10th grade years (parents got divorced, not an excuse but it definitely got to my head), upward trend from there on
-grading system based on eights; ex. 92-100=A, 84-91=B, and so forth.
-excelled in social studies/history</p>
<p>EC's:</p>
<p>-5 years of martial arts
-2 years of soccer
-2 years of cycling and mountain biking
-job in restaurant business for 3 years
-30+hours of community service
-Volunteered on local political campaign
-lived in china for 3 years, dealt with culture and language
-have been to over 8 countries
-member of key club and young republicans club
-speak spanish basically/visited spain (3.5 years)</p>
<p>so what schools can i get into considering these things?

<p>Thanks for chancing me. I’m not too sure about great schools for political science, but judging by your GPA and SAT and choice of major, you’d want to look into:</p>
<p>American University
Ohio State University
University of Washington
UCLA
UC San Diego
UVA</p>
<p>The latter three would be bigger reaches, I assume. I’d try and explain your lower GPA to the admissions departments, somehow. Aiming for a slightly higher SAT score wouldn’t be too bad either, although I’m not sure if it’d make up for the 3.0 GPA. It never hurts to try, so don’t hesitate to aim high.</p>
<p>UCLA and UVA are very high reaches…Try looking into American University and George Washington University. Also, I’ve heard some decent things about political science program at Northeastern University and Boston University. I’m not sure about the ROTC at any of these schools though, but I remember talking to an ROTC member when I visited the American campus.</p>
