But it does for Cornell!!!!

BAM!

bananainpyjamas, that's good to hear. I love those HYP cross-admit stories. :D

A kid from a local high school turned down the AB Duke for Princeton. :(

WOW I'd never turn down Duke AB, but its not like I have a chance of ever getting it lol.

Turned Down:

Brown Univ.- More or less to see if I got in or not....I got waitlisted..so yea that's a no

BU-No Financal Aid (well not enough...Duke gave me more). Although I love Boston, the BME program at Duke is far superior

University of Rochester: Not enough Aid...Location was horrible too. Nice campus though

University of Pitt Honors College: eh..was a safety school I didn't even visit...so I can't really say much

Syracuse Univ.- Location a big factor, also got practically no financial aid

UConn-Safety School I really had no interest in (as you can see I had the fear of getting rejected from every school I applied to..lol)

SUNY Stony Brook Honors College- This was tough since my parents promised to buy me a brand new car if I attended..o and I got a full scholarship...and it's pretty good in science/med research for a state school. However, it's 5 minutes from my house.....so yea....Duke it is!

Ya... I was pretty surprised that I got into most of the colleges I applied to. Lucky me I guess :-). These are the colleges I turned down.

Columbia - When I visited, I didn't really get the close, community feeling. Although Columbia has a few blocks closed off for its campus, I felt like the student body was very remote and cold.

Cornell - Winter... nuff said

Carnegie Mellon - They have a great ECE program, but they offered me the worst financial aid package. Also, I didn't like the 'nerdiness' of the school... food sucks.... and social life is hard to establish.

Univ. of Illinois - Urbana - It's too close to home. I know a billion people going there and I wanted to get far from home and start fresh.

When I visited Duke for BDD, I knew for sure this was the place for me. Aside from the fact that my older brother goes here and my sister graduated from here, I felt my own personal connection to the campus. Not only is the educational quality unparalleled, but I like Duke's community-oriented feel. I like how they require dorm life for three years. I thought this was awesome because it forced people to meet new friends and grow tighter, as opposed to a city environment like Columbia where everyone left campus. Although Durham kinda sucks as a city, I think the campus and community (anyone say K-ville tenting?) definitely sold me to this great place.

i only turned down Harvard, Princeton and MIT but thats ok

okkk buddy, and I "won" the lottery TOMMOROW.

you did? OH MAH GAHD...how much money?

Turned down

BC - Applied to please friend of my parents.

Michigan - Applied cause my brother was there. But too big for me, and...my brother was there.

Penn - Too popular at my school, and I didn't want a city campus. Shouldn't have applied.

Brown - My first choice for a long time (even over two other schools that "forgot" to accept me). But my visit sucked and ultimately decided the open curriculum wasn't a good fit for me.

Northwestern - Nearly enrolled here, but then, last minute, I visited DUKE...
