Essays: Very good, proofread by 5 close people.

Teacher Recommendations:
1) My Spanish 5 Honors (no AP in my school) teacher who is a Middlebury graduate wrote me one. Excellent, one of the best she wrote! We are very close.
2) My AP English teacher who graduated from Stanford wrote me one. We are close.
3) I also got a letter of recommendation from Citibank. My supervisor went to an Ivy League graduate school, and wants me to work for Citi when I graduate and during the summers in college.

Counselor Recommendation: Excellent, he said it was concise and specific.
State: New Hampshire
School Type: Competitive Public (~ 450 kids in my class)
Ethnicity: Pakistani
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: Middle Class; need financial aid.
Hooks: My recommendation is from a teacher who is from Middlebury? I am not sure....

I am not sure if I can get into Middlebury ED, or even NYU ED, so I am wondering what college I have a shot at ED?
If you guys could also point out schools for RD that would be very helpful as well! Thank you!

Bump! I am a stressed out junior, and I need to know lol.

You’ll definitely get into NYU, I’ve seen people get in with far, far less, I really don’t know enough about Middlebury to tell you about that one

Yeah thanks, NYU is a dream, but I realize it might be a High Match with my GPA even if I do ED.

Bump! I need to hear something good!

Yeah, you might not even have to go ED with your stats. Check out Cornell too, thats where I’m going next year, it ain’t NYC though

I don’t think I have a chance at Cornell, and I think I wouldn’t apply there ED, maybe RD.

What other colleges would accept me ED? Do you guys think I can get into NYU Stern ED??

Interesting choice of username…

Yes, you can get into NYU, but unless you have lots of money in your pockets, don’t go ED at NYU.

Yeah I was thinking about how NYU sucks at giving financial aid. I might do RD.

What other schools do you think would accept me ED!?

Brown!!!

hahah noooo I don’t think I have a chance at Brown ED. It was my dream school for a long time, but I am just not sure, I don’t want to apply ED and then end up rejected. Any else within reason lol???

Bump! Need more input! Give me a list of schools people! Thanks

In order to try to recommend some colleges, could we have some more info? Are you looking at LACs or large universities? Are you willing to leave the northeast? Do your parents have strong feelings as to where you should go? Have you run the financial aid calculators to get a rough idea of how much financial aid you need? At need aware college or colleges that don’t always meet full need, the less need you have, the better your chances. Are your parents capable of paying the EFC or will you need to get merit money awards? What type of student are you? Science? Humanities? Languages?

Why the burning need to apply ED?

I still say, Brown!!!
Know why? If you get rejected by Brown, you STILL have Middleburry EDII. Brown would not reject you with those stats, but defer. This is a chance you should take.

twomules: Oh yeah! Sorry!

1) FA does not matter since I have third party scholarships
2) Location: I would like to stay in the East Coast and Midwest
3) I want to major in economics and mathematics
4) I am looking at both LAC’s and large universities

and the reason I want to apply ED is so that it gives the college a sense of interest, and maybe offsets my GPA even if a tiny tiny bit, anything will help. Also since FA does not matter as much, I guess I don’t have to worry about getting enough money. Also, I think ED1 and ED2 are pretty good choices to have when applying to colleges because the chances of you getting in increase. I know for NYU the acceptance rate is like normally 25ish % but 38% for ED! I could be within that 13% getting acceptance ED while otherwise I would not RD! I am stressing way too much lol.

Yeah I agree with vinnyli (except for the Brown part haha), you are really misunderestimating your stats

From the little I’ve learned here on CC, males are in demand at most LACs. You might get a little bit of an admissions boost there.

Have you looked at University of Chicago?

Yeah I have! I will probably apply there too. I might be underestimating my stats yeah, but maybe a better word would be “cautious.” I might just apply RD for UofC because lots of really good applicants apply EA

Bump 10 char

Sorry that I can’t help you too much. We had been looking at science departments for our daughter. I have the impression that Oberlin has a good math department but I don’t know why I think that.

Around here people like the math departments at Carleton and St Olaf but I bet these are a little too far west for you. If you are willing to look at CA, I would suggest Pomona. Geographic diversity can be your friend.

No I am not going out of the west coast for college. Come on CCer’s! Help me out! Bump!

At least tell me some schools to apply for RD
