You need a higher GPA to get into UGA these days. But there is the Hope which pays for everything but room and board and you must have a hope 3.0 GPA to get it.

The University of Alaska does something similar to Texas. However, being in the top 10% nets not only guaranteed admissions, but a full ride scholarship. It’s a means of combating the brain drain in this state. It also doesn’t fall victim to the same issues as Texas, as high schools here have to be all things to all people.

Regarding UGA… UGA does NOT have auto-admission for anyone except the valedictorian and salutatorian of every accredited high school in the state (public or private). Other than these two students from every school, no body (except football players…) is guaranteed admission to UGA.

The 3.0 thing another poster mentioned is regarding the HOPE scholarship, which Democrat Zell Miller initiated in order to pay for tuition for any in-state student at any of the state’s universities (UGA, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Kennesaw, etc…)

However, the student must be admitted first, which is not automatic. But if an in-state student gets admitted to UGA, for example, tuition (and about a hundred dollars for books) is covered. It’s still a really good deal, and has improved the quality of UGA immensely, and has been copied around the nation

KU’s and KSU’s have assured admissions (but they don’t really call it that on their website)
basically you get in if you meet one of the three criteria
I. graduate in the top third of your class
II. have a GPA of 2.0 or higher (2.5 OOS)
III. score a 21 on SAT (980 ACT) (24 ACT, 1090 SAT OOS)

Evergreen State is basically an auto-admit if you graduated high school.

The CSUs have eligibility indexes for people within their service areas. If you’re within the service area and you apply for a non impacted program with above the minimum eligibility score you’ll get in.

If you get rejected from ASU, that’s probably a sign you shouldn’t be going to college.

This thread is 30 mos old and the info is outdated, at least for TX. Let it die and start a new thread if this topic is of interest.

Here are some other state flagships with auto admits (any school that guarantees merit for a certain SAT/GPA combo will be an automatic admit for anyone who exceeds those scores though)

University of Wyoming: 3.0 UW, 21ACT, 980 CR/M
-Admission with support: 2.5-2.9 GPA or 2.25-2.49 GPA + 20 ACT or 960 CR/M

Non-impacted majors and non-impacted CSU campuses will admit anyone who meets the minimum CSU requirements:

[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - Eligibility Index - Nonresidents Residents](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

However, many majors and CSU campuses are impacted:

Being in the local service area often helps, but not all of them will admit local applicants with just the minimum CSU requirements (SLO and SD, at least, just add some extra points).
