What schools in Carnegie Mellon or Upenn will I get into, if any?

What schools in Carnegie Mellon or Upenn will I get into, if any?

Those are the important ones. My goal is SCS but CIT is okay too....
IMPORTANT NOTE: I'm applying ED to UPenn's School of Engineering and Applied Science (its smallest school).

PLEASE feel free to comment on what I should improve to help me get into CMU or UPenn!

Anyone…?

I can chance you back!

bumppppppppp

Oy, applying to the math and engineering school with that SAT math score! However, I certainly hope your SAT 2s will make up for that issue, you’re clearly good at math - just had a bad day perhaps? Any chance at retaking in November to improve the math score? At the moment, that is your BIGGEST weakness, especially applying for a mathematical/science school. However, the rest of your application looks really good. Just make sure your make your activities/essays pop - a lot of students participate in those kinds of activities, so make sure you show them what they mean to you and how you’ve dedicated your time to them! I would say, with the math score as is, and under ED to UPenn, you’re at a high match/low reach point. I say if you can take the SAT again and improve that math a bit, I’d put you at about a match/high match. I think your chances are very likely for CMU - I know students who got in with far worse qualifications than you have. So, best of luck!

EDIT - I misread that! You and I have the same issue, CRITICAL READING URGH! Not math. You are clearly very good at math, but not so much at CR, exactly like myself. I still maintain - see if you can retake for a higher score. Which means a math school is even more so doable than I had previously said. I think that you still range a high match/low reach however, because of that score!

I think you have a chance at these schools! But it comes down to the essays and showing passion and excitement about the school! :)

Thought you should know that your SAT composite score is 2180, not 2160.

engineering would be tough, not sure about the rest. please chance me  http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1225356-compsci-schools-students-bad-stats-like-me-uc-chancers-please-look.html</a></p>

OK I took the SAT’s again this october and got a 2280

M 800
W 800
CR 680

Will this help? I applied ED to Upenn Engineering (SEAS), crossing my fingers…

Penn:
Better chances if you are a female.
Very low chances if you are an Asian male (low GPA and not so hot ECs).

CMU: Decent chances

CMU shouldn’t be a problem with those scores. Penn is an ivy which makes it pretty tough, BUT your scores are FABULOUS for engineering (no one in that department cares that much about CR anyway, I HATE THAT SECTION TOO!!!). With FANTASTIC essays I’d wager that you’d have a good shot at getting into Penn b/c you are applying ED, ECs are a little weak though…

Chance back a fellow varsity tennis player and hater of the CR section???

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1231725-yale-scea-chance-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

ok now im nervous… maybe i shouldn’t have applied ED to penn engineeering…

Your test scores are excellent, as is your rank. If your essays to Penn were spotless, I’d say you are in. Very good scores, and in math that’s great for engineering.

CMU you’re in probably.

CMU - high match
Penn ED - high match/low reach

Did anyone else take the SAT II Physics test today? I found it very difficult because I haven’t taken a full year of AP Physics yet. My school does not allow you take AP Physics until senior year…

Hopefully the physics score won’t hurt my chances…

bump .
