What schools in France are known here in the US?

Well I know what the good schools are but I wanted to know what americans see at as the most prestigeous in France...

The only one I've heard of is the Sorbonne

Many Americans would recognize the Sorbonne, and consider it to be prestigious. A much smaller number would have any understanding of its place within the system as Universite Paris-IV. It's kind of like saying "Wharton" when you go to Penn.

Some would recognize Sciences Po.

to be honest, not many french universities are renowned in the USA.
the most prestigious would be la sorbonne, science po, ENA (which is not for undergrads), maybe Polytechnique or even HEC

Sorbonne has the most swing, but many don't know about it anyway.

Ecole Poly is pretty famous among the academics, engineers and scientists.

The only EU universities the semi-average joe could name are probably Oxford and Cambridge...maybe the London School of Economics.

Gotta love the Anglosphere!

While most Americans would recognize the Sorbonne, most academicians would recognize EcoPoly and ENA as the most prestigious.

France has schools?

Yeah, they do.

Ain't no one in the midwest and south heard of any schools in Europe besides cambridge and oxford.

agreed.

if u r talking about people in general, very very few americans can name a single frech university. i personally learned ENA, and polytechnique from my ap government class.......

don't feel bad that americans don't know much about french universities. the average american probably can't name all 8 of the actual ivy league.

That is true. The average american probably doesn't know about more than a few liberal arts colleges in the world, if one at all.

Sorbonne is certainly fairly well known - outside the US it is just as prestigious as any European school.

Also, for grad school, INSEAD is a top b-school with ties to Wharton.

But the Sorbonne isn't even the best school in France.

no it's not, i don't know why everyone raves about it so much. Polytechnique or some business schools are harder to get into and better.
TPeck- France does not have any schools. The people over there are all illiterate and stupid. All good schools are in America. Amen.
<sarcasm></sarcasm>

the sorbonne and science PO are the only ones I've ever heard of, and I know nothing about them

Sorbonne is famous beacuse its name is cool as hell.
