North Carolina State University-Raleigh

I think UNC@CH.

UNC-CH is a strong match but not a safety. The OP’s scores are a little low. Great rigor and grades, though.

I think you are fine for Carolina; I have multiple friends that are here with SATs in the 1600 and 1700 range.

In state for Carolina you are in. Class rank counts big for them.

Safety schools? If you live in NC you know already what they are. You are smart enough to figure that out.

Test Scores
Middle 50% of
First-Year Students

SAT Critical Reading: 590 - 700
SAT Math: 620 - 710
SAT Writing: 580 - 680
ACT Composite: 26 - 31

If you have multiple friends at UNC-CH who have SATs in 1600-1700 range, then you may be hanging out with athletes, URMs or maybe some special admits.

students at the 25% level have an SAT of around 1790. Somebody with a 1600 SAT is probably some kind of special admit.

Anyway…UNC would be a match of this student, not a safety.

You should take the ACT again and study the SR section…that really brought your score down.

Safety would be NC State Raleigh

SAT Critical Reading: 520 - 620
SAT Math: 560 - 660
SAT Writing: 510 - 610
ACT Composite: 23 - 28

UNC-CH-Match
NCCU-Safety

Yes, mom2collegekids, but those UNC-CH stats include scores for OOS applicants, who usually have to meet a higher SAT/ACT-score threshold. In-staters get a real break. I think Chapel Hill’s a safety for OP.

(Yep, I know this is an old thread…just chanced upon it now. :-)
