What schools require 3 SATs?
can someone give me a list? (:
thanks!!

A lot of schools do (so I don't know that a list will help that much). Most of the more selective schools require 3 SATIIs (Although some will let you substitute the ACT)

harvard, princeton, georgetown...and one more i think

i thought most of the competitive ones require/prefer three?
is that true

No, kawaii-- most schools do not require/prefer three. Yale does not, Brown does not. Best advice is to check the application requirements on the web sites or catalogs of the schools you are thinking of. Very few schools need three.

Do schools vary in their policies as to "considering" scores? Do most only consider the three (or whatever required number) highest ones or do they look at it holistically? Or do most look at all of them but put greater weight on the three (or two) highest?

I think Northwestern randomly requires 3. But I'm not certain on this...I will verify. :)

When I visited Northwestern over Spring Break they said no SAT subject tests were required. They will consider them, but they actually don't require any.

Harvard, Princeton, Georgetown require 3, Northwestern "recommends" 3

anyone have an answer to poseur's question in post #6?

how about cornell?

nyu requires two.

There is only 4 schools that require 3.

The 4th someone told me the other day but it is random and not an ivy or anything like that.

Harvard, Princeton, Georgetown(!)

What's the purpose of SAT II anyways?

So, if you took three but the school you are applying to only wants two, will they just consider your top two scores?

giantredlobster, you said there are four schools but you gave us three... what is the fourth!?

Regardless of whether a school requires 3 tests, I would take 3. I'm sure all of you are taking at least 3 AP classes that have a corresponding SAT II test, so you really wouldn't have to study that much. Besides, going above and beyond the requirements can only help you.

ohhh. This is what really made me upset. I only had 2 classes that corresponded so I had to just take my chances w/ literature.

i guess we'll see how that turned out :p

^ You'll do fine.
