What schools should I be looking at?

I'm a high school Junior and I am working on my college search; unfortunately I don't have much experience and don't really know how to go about finding the perfect school. If any one can suggest some reach, match, and safety schools I would be really appreciative.

Stats:
GPA:3.6 weighted
SAT: total-2100
CR-730
W-690
M-680
Other/ECs: I am involved in student government and am currently the Junior class Vice President. I have been on several varsity teams and have a part time job. I am involved in FBLA (I'm going to states next month:)) and have been an officer in Key Club. I am in CSF, another community service club, and have been in a local choir for the past few years.
Interests: I am very interested in politics and am considering majoring in PoliSci/Gov. btw, I visited DC a year ago and I loved it there.

thanks for any advice you can offer

Not enough information. What size college? Public/private? University or LAC? Just DC area, or include New England/MidAtlantic/elsewhere?

I would recommend using the Counselor-O-Matic program on the Princeton Review website. You input your stats, interests, criteria, and it will produce a list of colleges. PLEASE NOTE: their breakdown into safety/match/reach is very unreliable. The list generated will be a good starting point for YOU TO DO FURTHER RESEARCH.

I thought the safety/match/reach breakdown was alright. I’ll have to re-evaluate.

I have similar scores and these are the schools I’m looking at:

American University (match)
Boston University (match)
Virginia Commonwealth University (safety)
George Washington University (low reach)

These two are iffy:
UNC Chapel Hill (high reach for out of state - purely for financial aid)
UMD College Park (in state - financial safety)

I have similar scores to you, and I want a midsize school in a city or a reasonably warm place, so heres what I’ve got on my list, it may help you start.

Reach
Emory
Duke
Georgetown
University of Virginia
Wake Forest
Davidson

Matches
American
George Washington
Fordham
Furman
Tulane
Villanova

Safety
Clemson (OOS Tuition Waivers)
St. Louis U.
Miami U (Ohio)
Xavier (Cincy)
Rollins
Elon

thanks everyone, this has definitely helped. the suggestions have given me an idea of what others with my similar stats are looking at. thanks a bunch
