These don’t have to be schools you’d ever want to attend, but they’ll give you an idea for how these very different types of campuses would feel. A big university can seem exciting and filled with opportunities – or overwhelming and anonymous. A small LAC can feel intimate and nurturing – or limited and stifling. I took my D to visit my own gigantic alma mater which I loved, and her reaction was “OMG I’d get lost here!” and so she knew not to even waste her time looking at big schools.</p>
