this year I am hoping to get an research internship

Recs & Essay:
My recs are gonna be pretty darn good. I know my teachers think highly of me.
I'm a natural writer & also getting professional help with my essays so hopefully I can convey passion in them.

I would LOVE to be able to get into the best possible school I can get into. (ie Penn, Cornell, Northwestern, Tufts, UMich, NYU). Please let me know how you think I would look and what I can do to make my app better. Thank you so much!

totally forgot to mention :

I was on JV swimming for 2 years & I am gonna be on varsity for the next 2 years.
I also am a trained lifeguard.

please help (even if its quick)!! thanks!!

I think that you have a really good chance at Northwestern! The acceptance rate isn’t very high, so no one has a guarantee, but I have a friend that goes there and I think he had about the same stats as you. I’m not sure about the other ones, or if your race will help you out at all, but I’m sure if your essays are good, you’ll have a definite shot! (:

Oh and thanks for replying to my post!

thanks jstewart! i hope i get into that; my grades were low junior year which doesnt look good but its because i got a concussion which screwed things up a bit.

if anyone else has any input, feel free to reply!

bump bump bump

does anyone know if senior year gpa matters at these schools?

bump again haha

I think you’re good. Your ECs are great and unique. Your tests scores are awesome, and if your recs and essays are as good as you claim, then you should be fine.

Senior year GPA matters. Common App makes you fill out a mid-year and final report.

i believe that you have a descent chance in all of the schools. Penn is difficult to get in, but since you dad went to the school, it will increase your chances.

thanks to you both
hopefully my senior year gpa will be really good so the overall will go up

bumping once more. so my dad is planning college visits & im visiting duke as well as penn, umich, cornell, nwu , nyu, cmu, tufts & gtown. any schools i should add – like more matches / safeties?

anyoneeeee?

I think you might have a shot at U of Michigan, NYU, and Tufts. You’ve got great SAT scores and excellent ECs.
