I consider myself a fairly good student: 4.2 weighted gpa, but a kind of low sat score of 1730. I have TON of extra curriculars and leadership: Editor in chief of the school newspaper, I’m a certified grade a coach for the archery team and manage the varsity team, i was/will be captain of the tennis team and in varsity, ive won 3 awards for Model United Nations conferences and have chaired twice, i have more than 100hours of community service, im in a photography youth council, i have a first place debate award and i was also a national finalist for the “Siemens We Can Change The World Challenge” when I created a recycled plastic water heater for an empoverished community in mexico, i also interned at the assemblywomans office for a month. I’m thinking on writing about my experience in traveling and specifically an experience when i went skydiving and didnt know the french words for open the parachute and somehow tie it in to being open minded and taking risks and etc… I am planing on increasing my sat score in october and im taking 3 subject tests in a month (pretty sure ill ace the spanish one). I specifically want to know if id get into brown or yale? Or at least if i have a good shot. Any other school recs would be great.
What is your unweighted GPA?
Your ECs are impressive. Make sure to keep pursuing what you enjoy because you are passionate about it!
If you score a 2200+, I think you’d be a qualified applicant.
Best wishes!
Get your SAT above 2000. For Brown, check out this link that shows distribution of SAT scores: www.brown.edu/admission/undergraduate/explore/admission-facts (sorry, don’t know how to hyperlink!) Have you considered trying the ACT as well? Maybe sign up for June test.
Your ECs are good. What do you want to major in? Where are you from? This will factor into admissions, too.
Make a list that includes safeties, matches and reaches. Certainly shoot for Brown and Yale (if you get your scores somewhere in the 25-75 zone) but make sure you’ve got some schools that aren’t next to impossible for anyone - Post a little more about you (major, home state, etc.) and folks will be able to make suggestions. Good luck.
If you want a shot for too schools, then a 2250 or so will be enough. You have strong EC’s which will make you a strong applicant. As replied #1 said, what’s your UW GPA?
Hi! I left everything high and dry but I thought I’d let you guys know I got into NYU UCLA Berkeley UCSB BU and waitlisted for UPenn. I got denied from USC Brown and Columbia… If you’d like, you can check out the new thread I made about choosing between NYU UCLA and Berkeley.
