stereotypical asians? I don't have a 4.8 GPA /sob. But thanks alot, those info really helps. Hmm, more suggestions from all of you pedants out there please?

Generally this is the stereotypical Asian I see (I'm pretty sure I fall into this category too heh :-/ ):

Pretty high SATs, generally more focused on tech related things/mathematics(I'm kind of guessing that you are, with the computer stuff), not much leadership, no sports or no contact sports(football), high GPA. GPA is certainly in it too, but not the whole thing.

I guess some people sense a lack of passion. So I suppose, work at something that you are passionate about, and do something great with it. Passion doesn't have to mean starting an international charity or something like that(its fine if you interested in it, but don't force yourself). It can be anything that shows your passion :).

Excuse my bad sentence structure and junk, I'm kind of in a hurry :p .

Hmm sounds like me except that Asians aren't lazy and they don't run fast. But haha sob I am a typical asian ;/. Nothing to be ashamed of but its true that we are all alike ^_^.

And oh thats that Stanford thing you are talking about?

Haha, you'd be surprised how many asians are lazy :-p, at least around here. Yeah, nothing to be ashamed of ^^.

Stanford EPGY = http://epgy.stanford.edu/ . You can take courses online, mostly math/physics. Its a good chance to stock up on your math courses, you can move as fast as you want, so you don't have to get bored in math class. You'll have to make sure your school accepts the credit though. I don't think you will have a problem with that, its Stanford :p .

BUMP Please!

interesting story on your chances... two girls at my HS in san francisco.. one is asian immigrant, had gpa around 3.3-3.5 and SAT 1 in the low 1000.. for some reason she was admitted to UCLA.. at the same time, a girl whos lived in california all her life, has about a 3.95 UW, probably a 4.3 W, and SAT in the 1300, was denied at UCLA...

everyone at my school thinks it was some sort of clerical error, but the asian immigrant really hyped up teh fact that she was an immigrant in her essays, while the white girl had nothing to say, because she had lived a rich, ordinary life... Anyways, moral of the story, if you write about your experience moving around and such, you have a decent chance, even with the low GPA... with that said all those schools would technically be defined as reaches for someone with your stats

Thanks and if I say my family got a really low income (fake) will they find out?

yes they will.

But now this is the interesting part. My dad has two jobs. 1 as a big partner in a company in new york while he has a job at a friend's place (not workig though) in CA (where we live) which shows he earns only around 3k or so. Of course he has to pay taxes for both but hehe needs consultant if I can use this loophole.

"which shows he earns only around 3k or so."

why would he do that?

Well, hmm has to deal with immigration law, etc. My dad gets a jb so he can stay in US. Hey, my dad does ot do 'much' work but I guess his boss is very generous ^_^

up we go..

Please help!

Argh help me ....sob

u cant get in at any of them..
look at community colleges
then transfer

You need to increase your GPA. I know in Florida you can take courses both online and in Summer School for acceleration (GPA Padding) or remidiation (Bringing low grades up higher). Also, try if you can to get some teachers to sign off on recommendations for those higher-level classes. Perform well in standard classes and your teachers won't have a choice, they'll have to sign off on higher-level recs.

Well if I retake a class over (example: I got a D and next semester i retake the class) will my D be replaced? And I better get some courses done. Thanks for the advice. Ay others?

alebed I would rather not attend college then. Can't bare to go to CC ;/.

The way it works in most places, as I'm told, is that if you retake a course, that course shows up both in the semester of school you retook it and the original semester that you took it on your transcript. The only difference is that the course is "flagged" which means that there is a special character placed next to the lower grade with the higher grade next to it on your transcript and the lower grade is no longer factored into your GPA.

I see, thank you but would the admin office care about the previous grade?
