Hey! I will be a H.S. senior this fall: c/o 2006. I've started to think about schools to apply to with the following credentials... In general I think I have good academics/test scores. ECs and Volunteer work, however, are a different story (I have no idea how some CC posters manage it all!) I'd appreciate it if you could give me some ideas for "reach", "match", and "safety" schools. My favorite schools are Stanford, UPenn, and MIT but given my ECs I don't know how much a chance I've got.

SAT: 2400
SAT II: 800 Chem, 800 Math 2C, 800 Writing
PSAT (Junior year): 232/240 -- maybe National Merit Semifinalist or finalist?

Rank: 1/~600 at public high school
GPA: 4.0 (this just means unweighted straight A's, right?)
I've taken nearly all the AP and honors courses my school offers. Junior year I took 6 AP classes, scores not yet announced. Next year I will take about 5.

ECs: (this is what I'm worried about...)
Math and Science Club-- member 3 years, may be president this coming year
Scolastic Quiz Bowl Team-- member 3 years, will continue senior year
Politics club-- founder, served as president, secretary, member, 2 years
Habitat for Humanity-- just joined January 2005, been to 1 build, will do more this coming year
Student Council-- unelected member, 3 years
NHS-- member only
Spanish NHS-- member 3 years
School Varsity Orchestra-- 3 years in highschool but then I quit (teacher changed, lost interest)
Community Orchestra-- 2 years, several performances, not exceptional skill but I enjoy it
Piano lessons-- 10 years (this doesn't help, huh)
Piano UIL awards-- small, not special division 1 gold medals several years
Summer Research Program: conducted cancer-related research this summer.
Hopsital Volunteer-- haven't started (zero hours) but I am scheduled to help out in July and throughout this coming school year.

That's it. Again, I'd really appreciate it if you could give me some "safety", "match", and "reach" schools. Thanks a bunch!
