Is it just one subject, or is it a mixture of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics?

It’s a mix.

Of everything science-related?

I believe so.

So the best time to take it would be after I’ve take bio, chem, physics, anatomy, and/or ap environ?

You technically don’t need any backround knowledge for the science portion, but it helps.

Background knowledge can hurt you and help you. On the practice ACT I took, background knowledge from chemistry class made 1 passage very easy (since I had performed the experiment in the class) while knowledge from physics made me overthink one question and miss it. While I’ve only taken 1 practice ACT, I think that thinking simply helps eliminate incorrect answers.

And OP, the science section seems like an amalgam (LOL, SAT word) of everything; just read the text and hope you understand what’s going on.

This is incorrect; in fact, this thread gives you an idea of what kind of background knowledge has been required in the past: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/958128-act-science-compilation-background-knowledge.html.
