What Science Should I Take Next Year??

So this year (I'm a junior) I took AP Chem which probably the hardest science at our school. It's a little hard, but I'm doing okay in it. Next year I'm trying to decide which classes to take. Here is what I have so far:

Madrigals (Choir)
AP Calc BC
AP Lit
AP Gov/Econ
Spanish 3
Ap Physics/AP Environmental/Ap Bio

I don't want a completely overwhelming senior year, so I was thinking of taking AP Environmental Science. What were your experiences with the sciences I'm considering? How much time a week did you put into them? From what my friends have said, it seems like Bio is a lot of work but not especially hard, Env is a lot of memorization, and Physics requires the most brain activity lol. What do you guys think?

Don't take physics!

Go for enviro... I've taken Bio and it was eh, physics is deadly, all the seniors last year warned us not to take it, and I listened and the rest wish they had. My enviro is in the process of going AP, but isn't still. This means while it's harder than usual, we still get open notebook tests all year :). I'd go for enviro, just because it seems like you get more useful/worldly info from the class

"and the rest wish they had."
Suckers. Physics sucks :D

APES at my school is a beast... but it's a great experience and it honestly can change the way you live your life. I put in more time than most kids do at other schools in APES but that's again because we have a crazy teacher. AP Bio is a pretty big time commitment and just a lot of busywork to boost your accuracy on the exam multiple choice.

Go APES!

AP Environmental Science is a BS AP class! It really depends on what you want to major/minor in in college.....anything non science take AP Environmental Science, anything with science take AP Bio. DO NOT TAKE PHYSICS!!!!!!!

Physics > All

... Take AP Physics. C. :)

um, it REALLY depends on your school. For example, AP Biology at my school is basically hell-only 1 person passed the midterm (and the grade requirements make it so only people who got over 95+ all years before could take it...so the smartest kids)..and Environmental just sucks because the teacher doesn't take the "spirit" of the answer (marks off for "a" "an" "the" missing from direct quote). And AP Physics is a breeze, as long as you don't take the AP test. :)

Well my school has some of the best teachers...they all seem about the same difficulty and are really into what they teach. I'm planning to major in political science just incase that matters...I think I'll probably end up taking apes..I feel like a slacker though because all my friends will probably be in physics :(

What does it matter what your friends do? Do what's best for you and the apes:D

If you're thinking of going into the sciesnces, APES might be a little "soft" for adcoms. AP Bio at my school is a comparatively easy AP class, and almost everyone gets 5's (because the exam itself is pretty easy and has a generous curve). Last year, we hardly got any homework, and we didn't even do half the labs. I spent a quality weekend with CliffNotes, and that was good enough for a 5.

If you found AP Chem challenging, I think you'd find AP Physics challenging too. I personally had a hard enough time in honors physics last year, so if you're not a hardcore science-math person, you probably shouldn't take that.

^ I already said I'm not interested in science at all for my future...But I usually do really well in science, I didn't find AP Chem really challenging either (like you implied). I got a low A last semester and have a high A now, my teacher has a 75% passing rate so yeah...

take AP Physics B :-D

Don't take AP Enviro, it is useless. Take AP Biology it's more impressive than AP Enviro and less stressful than AP Physics. Not to mention it's way interesting (In my opinion, I plan to major in bio)

If you know your math then take physics. Easy A

AP Bio is the most work but the most rewarding and interesting. AP Physics has like no work, but with that class I was always like "Oh, this seems easy. I'll just figure it out when I have a test in front of me.." I ended up with a 94, but could have done better...APES is, from what I hear, fun because they take a lot of trips and do outdoor stuff but it is way too easy.

Doing well in physics has nothing to do with doing well in science. It is a math class, plain and simple.

If you've already had a calculus class and usually do really well in Math and have already taken AP Physics B or a challenging Honors Physics class, take Physics C, but only if Physics/Math/Engineering is a career that interests you.

If you are thinking of going into the sciences, but don't want to go into engineering/physics, or haven't had calculus yet, or haven't had physics or either in a Physics class that wasn't really hard or don't feel super comfortable with physics, but it's still something that interests you, take Physics B.

If, on the other hand, you aren't interested in the sciences as a career path, there's no real reason to take an AP Physics class as you can take an easier class in college (Physics A).

AP Environmental Science is usually viewed as a soft option by colleges, even if your school makes it difficult. AP Bio is a good option, and isn't too hard if you have a good teacher.

So if you're into sciences/math and like Physics, go for an AP Physics. Otherwise, if you want an easier class take Environmental Science and a harder one take Biology.

physics rules all
