What score do you have to get on the PSAT to get Finalist?

Title says all...
is it 230+

Definitely not. The cutoff for **Semifinalist/b varies between states but it’s usually around the 203-223 range.

There’s only Semifinalist? No such thing as Finalist?

^
Theres finalist, but you have to meet the cutoff for semi-finalist first. If you meet the cutoff and are one the top scores in your state then you become semi-finalist. After this, you have to take SAT and do others stuff to try and qualify for finalist.

check it out in Silverturtle’s guide.

every state has a different cutoff score.

You get to Finalist status after fulfilling several requirements after achieving Semifinalist status. Honestly, it’s all on National Merit’s website; just look it up.

Ok let’s say you get 23x on the PSAT which is definitely probably Finalist.

You say CB requires you to take SAT to prove it and stuff. What if you already did, like you get 2300+ on the SAT in sophomore year? Do you have to take it again?

Your PSAT score determines whether you quality as a Semifinalist; after that, it is completely irrelevant. If you complete the requirements and have a sufficiently high SAT score (supposedly about 1960+), you will almost certainly become a Finalist. SAT scores from sophomore year are acceptable, though I believe that those from freshman year and earlier do not count.

How do you study for PSAT? Is it like how you study for SAT?
