So I know the schools I plan to apply to are a crap-shoot, especially when I am not so special. jaja. So yeah, what scores should I aim for on the SAT and ACT? Should I choose one over the other?

Sorry I mean ‘be my goal…’ jaja. We all make mistakes!

bump bump…

you can choose whichever you feel among SAT and ACT.
Well its always better to aim for the perfect score. You probably already know the mid 50% scores. So that question is not an um… an intelligent one!

It probably isn’t, but I wanted to know the opinion of others. But your remark implies that chance threads are useless as well, and I am pretty sure you have done at least one.

You’ll want a 2150 at the lowest. 2250+ is preferable.

Your “goal” should be 800 on everything and/or a 36 ACT. The closer you come to that the better.

Frankly, the bottom range of scores is related to the strength of the rest of your app. For an Ivy, could be 1950+. (Though no one score should be in the pits.) It depends on what else you offer. Even a 2300 and URM won’t make up for lackluster- esp considering the competition. Remember that Ivy reviews are holistic.

And yes, chance me’s are more about reassurance, labelling something a reach or match, than about reality.

Thanks everyone!! You guys were a big help.

I understand URMs and perfect scores do not guarantee a spot in these highly competitive universities. However, I have been aiming for a 2100 or a 30, but everyone else is right: the closer to a perfect score, the better. Therefore, my goals should be higher.

I am strongly grateful for your feedback!! (:
