What should a psychology grad be doing?

In between undergrad and grad school I mean.

I graduated with a BA in psych and right now I am studying to take the General & Psychology GREs. I have two clinical internships under my belt. Besides that, what should I be doing?

I'm applying for a few positions as a research assistant, but if those don't work out, can I supplement my grad applications with something else? Work on a suicide hotline, rape crisis center, assistant teacher jobs...??

My problem is I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with my graduate school plans yet - teaching, social work, or PhD in clinical psych.

For any other psych majors out there, what did YOU do after your BA and before grad school??

Definitely try for research experience, even if it is as an unpaid volunteer. I would suggest looking for work in the clinical field as close to your area of interest as possible so you get a good idea of what its like in those fields and can apply to the best fit programs.

I have a BA in psychology and I’m working as a human resources manager. I’m applying to RN programs, and would ultimately like to be a psychiatric nurse, possibly a nurse practitioner in the future. I had originally wanted to get my PhD in social psychology or marketing, and discovered in the year I took off that I’d really rather help people rather than write and research and grade papers (if I had pursued being a prof).
