What should be our list of colleges for engineering cs/ee

Hi all please guide us for colleges we should apply, its our first experience to apply here. Stats uc GPA 3.86 and act composite 31 planning to take another as writing score was just 18 it was second attempt. First attempt was 28 with 26 writing.

If you want some valuable advice, it might help to look at “chance me” posts to get an idea about what type of information yields the most helpful advice. Providing GPA and ACT scores is not enough information.

California resident? Public or Private? Large or small schools? How much can you pay each year?

Thanks for replying…yes ca resident .looking for public school. 25k per yr…

Is $25k per year for tuition and housing, books etc?

If so, CSU’s would meet that requirement. http://www.calstate.edu/sas/costofattendance/

However, the UC’s would be a little higher. http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/paying-for-uc/tuition-and-cost/

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo would be an excellent choice for engineering and computer science, however it is very competitive. For those majors, more competitive than some of the UC’s.

Based on your stats and budget, CSUs are probably the right fit. CP SLO is going to be a stretch but, look at SDSU, CSULB, SJSU, CPP and Chico.

That’s a broad array of sizes and demographics and surrounds. One or two should hop out as ‘home’ when you visit.

Also CSU East Bay, which has a well regarded CS program, benefiting from its proximity to Silicon Valley.
