What should be the SAT score?????

what SAT score would reaally make you stand out as an international...????.... especially applyin to Ivies...

BUMP~~~~ Neone???

2300-2400 .

2380 - 2400 would be great

this question is really stupid. Seriously, do some research on CC or from other sources before you waste another thread on this stupid question, which has been answered countless times already.

Which SAT score would make you stand out? Of course, the higher the better. But again, SAT scores in general don’t make you “stand out,” since everyone has them and most only vary by a few trivial points. Also, this answer would depend on which type of schools you are referring to.

Omg just kill yourself rsv!

^ Ok now come he just had a question, not everyone knows about things before hand. Majority of people in India think MIT has an entrance exam… :D

^ lol .

2400 should do the job. Maaaybe 2300, but I’m not sure.

Just get your scores around 750. Colleges want to see whether you can handle the course load or not. 2400 or 2350 doesnt make much of a difference.

So if you get lower than 750 as an international, this would mean you can’t handle the course load ?

I didn’t do so terrific for my SAT. CR800, M670, W620 (740 the first time though, whistles) . What do you think of it? Does it make me look uncompetitive as an international student?

A silly question repeated does not make it less silly.

Nearly every school publishes statistics on SAT scores of the newly admitted class. For example, for the MIT class admitted in 2006, 97% of the admitted class had SAT I math scores greater than or equal to 650, yet only 19% of applicants with scores 750-800 were admitted.

Does that tell you anything? It doesn’t tell me much.

At most schools, certainly at most of the most competitive schools, SAT’s do not help you to stand out. SAT’s scores validate what is on your secondary school transcript, and do a lousy but necessary job of holding everyone to a single standard. They only vaguely indicate whether you can do the work. Being academically capable is usually a necessary but not sufficient criteria for admission.

It’s about how much you can get and getting as high as you can but not how much they want

How about 450 CR, 780 M, 560 Writing, 800 Math II, 660 Physics? And have some medal from international scientific olympiad?

The problem is that means you’re below average for critical reading and just above average in your writing section. Yes your maths is good but you would need to make an EXTREMELY compelling case for admission (outstanding other factors) in order to compensate for SAT scores like that. Even then i’m not so sure because most liberal arts schools find the reading and writing section is important given that there is usually a required language/social sciences component to the degree. Can you re-take them?

good luck!

Yeah manilla12, i really want to take it again, but almost all of schools deadline are in January 1st. I am just predicting my December SAT 1’s score. I want to learn by Computer Science; although I have a good achievements on mathematics and informatics , just my English is hampering my chances. I can read and understand every topics which are related to science. But you know, SAT is sort of a test which includes a lot of useless words. Also i need Financial aid; oh my god, life is so unfair. I wish my first language were English, it’s dragging me away from my dreams.

may i know what medal do you have and from which olympiad?..

You still have january sats.. Lots of colleges accept them.. So good luck

IOI 2006 Bronze, thanks for your wish
