<p>I haven't invited him yet. But I have his class everyday. I'm applying to traditional universities, so what will they consider him since I've been in his Advance Band class throughout my high school career. </p>
<p>It depends on the college. Many top colleges want your academic references to come from a teacher in a core subject - English, math, science, history/social studies, foreign language. Since Band does not fall there, I would say extra recommender if he can provide insight that your other teachers cannot provide.</p>
<p>Are you going to college to be in the college band and major in music? If not, I would say ‘other’.</p>
