What should I be doing

<p>What are my hypothetical chances at HYPSM, Columbia, CalTech, Dartmouth, JHU, Berk, Williams?</p>

<p>Stats: Rank 1 out of ~600, 2260 freshman year, 2290 super score, 34 ACT, 800 math IIC, 750 world history
AP calc bc (5), stats (5), world history (5)
taking: physics C (both), spanish lang, english lang, apush, bio, SAT II's: us history, physics, bio
senior year: micro/macro econ, lit, gov, chem, enviro, psych
college classes by end of high school: physics with lab, calc 3, linear algebra, differential equations, real analysis, biology with lab</p>

<p>Awards: NMSF, AIME qualifier, AMC 12 school winner, JETS science competition National Finalist + 1st place regionals, Straight A's, math contests, etc.
Leadership: Associated Student Body elected- School Council Member (2 years), robotics club captain, math club prez, jets team captain, captain of xc, captain of track
Sports: varsity xc, varsity track (3 years both)
Volunteering: at hospital (350 hours), red cross, tutoring for math/science</p>

<p>Extras: Did COSMOS summer science program '07, attending Summer Science Program (SSP) this year at Ojai, doing math research with professor in the field of knot theory, will submit to intel/isef/siemens if results are found before deadline</p>

<p>Essays: will prob write about math connected to my whole life, and my hero(es). and about summer program/research. hoping that starting early/revising a ton will help..
Recs: should be good, though not sure who im going to ask for the english/humanities rec..
Interview: prob will be ok..</p>

<p>Though I'm asian, I'm also low income, so I will apply through some scholarships..
any opinions/tips/advice on the arduous process of college admissions, and accurate chances for me?? Thanks!!! I love CC.</p>

<p>My cousin got into CalTech (and has now graduated, so it was a while ago), with I believe similar (but worse) stats than that. I don’t actually know what those ECs are, but they make you sound very smart. I would imagine you could get in there. </p>

<p>He however was not applying for financial aid, so I don’t know how that will influence things.</p>

<p>Your best bet is to read through the posts of kids accepted and rejected at these schools this year. You’ll see that many with your stats get in and many don’t. Once you have the numbers and reasonable EC’s, and yours put you in the running, it’s about how your recs and essays play. An Intel or Siemens win would certainly help.</p>
