As an incoming freshman, I just wanna' know...what should I check out at W&M and CW? I was going to go visit the college again, seeing as I only went to W&M for like ten minutes a couple of years ago to grab pizza on the way home from a competition HAHA.

Do you know what dorm you are in yet? Stopping by and seeing it may be cool. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the area with your new friends once you get here. Go on the admissions tour again - you may learn something useful that you didn’t know. Once you get your student ID, everything in CW will be free admission, so I would advise against wasting any money on something that will be free in a month. Checking out the Sadler Center, locating the Rec, the Caf, the Campus Center, Swem, and taking a tour of the Wren Building may be good too. If you know your perspective major - stop by whatever building it is housed in.Sorry for the randomness of this message, I just wrote things as they popped into my head.

^Not yet on the dorms. It’s supposed to be in our email by Friday though, so I guess it still applies to OP. =P

You can also just check out the town, OP, and get to know the general area–where stores, restaurants, shopping (clothes, groceries, etc.), etc. are so you’re not lost when you get there at Orientation.

you might be able to get your ID made?
Cheese Shop?
Campus Shop?
WM Bookstore?
Sadler Center?
Matoaka Amphitheater?
Business school?
academic buildings?

I was visiting in the area with my family a few weeks ago, so I decided to get my ID. You just stop by the ID office between 8 and 5 Mon - Fri and they will make you an ID in like 1 minute. I figure now I won’t have to wait in the line at orientation, so if you happen to be there anyway why not? I brought my student ID # with me and it was a breeze.

Definitely take a tour. It’s a great way to see campus and hear from current students. They’re offered weekdays at 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. until August 19. Keep in mind that residence halls are closed during the summer so you’re not likely to be able to see your dorm unless it’s Barrett (which is open for admission tours).

You may want to check out High Street or New Town (two urban development centers each about a mile from campus) which have restaurants, shopping, movie theaters, etc.

Orientation will take you to the Book Store and CW so you may want to hold off on those if you have limited time.
