What should I definitely bring with me to UCSD?

and what should I leave home? Like laptop, dorm decorations, etc...

LOL, you still have many months before you actually go to college, so you have lots of time to decide what to bring.

These sites basically sum up what you should bring:
[What to Bring to College](http://www.thedormitoryonline.com/WhattoBringtoCollege.html)
[Surviving College Life what to expect - Survive College with tips about roommates, studying, and more!](http://www.survivingcollegelife.com/category/what-to-expect/)

except I would say you don’t need shower shoes, extra long bed sheets.

Basically: Sheets/blankets/pillow/alarm clock/shower caddy with all personal necessities/towels/clothes for all seasons/occasions/shoes/flipflops/school supplies/desk lamp/printer/bike/skateboard/laptop/water filter/food/sports equipment/cords/extension cords/anything that you enjoy doing like movies/video games/etc/money/passport/id/watch…etc
You will decide with your roommate(s): microwave/television/refrigerator

This is good- I almost just started this exact thread! I’ll be moving to SD from seattle wa, and just read that socal enjoyed 190 straight days w.o rain=the opposite of what i’m used to. it’s it really that nice there? should i bother bringing my parka?

and as far as other stuff, forbes covered it.

Bring your parka/clothes to layer with because its not sunny here all year long. A few weeks ago, it was cold/windy/rainy. When it rains, you just don’t wanna go to class -_-
It started to get sunny last week…during finals. But when it gets sunny, it’s really nice. You gotta wear your summer clothes/wear sunscreen/sunglasses etc :D

Okay I completely disagree about the no shower shoes - the people in our suite were beyond disgusting and I would have died if it weren’t for my shower shoes.

ALSO they sometimes have temperpedic mattress pads at Costco and I would highly recommend them. The dorm mattresses are like rocks.

Bring an umbrella and some hoodies for the winter.
