If my country has a two year mandatory military service, does it make more sense for me to apply everywhere senior year and then request a deferal for two years or to apply only after I complete my service?
I definitely thought I should apply after but I've read some things that imply that applying regularly and requesting a deferal is easier.
(I have an american citizenship (in addition) and english is my first langauge)
what should I do?

Woah, no way - are you from Israel too?!
I'm not sure universities agree to defer for more than a year, but I'm sure you can email them and also find that information on their sites.

lol I am..!I didn't think they would defer for two years either but then I read on the columbia FAQ's that if you send a letter they do it pretty easily, especially if it's mandatory military service.

Then you can try! Maybe call their offices though, it might make the whole thing quicker, and then you can start the application process before it's too late.
Haha, I can't believe there's another Israeli on here ^_^.
