Hi Parents, I want to post this in this forum to get some adult opinions:

I transferred last Fall from community college to USC as an accounting major. Sadly, I feel the school and my major aren't really for me. I'm not going to go into the specifics as that would be a long-winded post. Preferably I would just switch major within my school, but my GPA is bad (<3.0) so that option probably will not happen. I wouldn't mind staying longer if I can switch to a different major. I'm not sure at this point I can even transfer again since I'm already at junior-standing. Since I have such a sub-par GPA, I feel I won't be able to get a job after graduation (no internship this summer either, but I can work which is fine).

What's the best option I can do at this point? should I just buckle down and try to get through these last 1.5 years? or is it possible to see if I can transfer to a different major?

Thanks in advance for all the comments/opinions

You are asking questions that you yourself can answer. Do you know what major you want to take up? Assume you stay at USC, which offers many other options, why transfer again? What is involved when switching majors? Map out the next two years. Can you fit the required courses you need for your new major and any other USC-specific courses they expect and still graduate on time?

Of course see if you can switch majors. Why not just ask? Having facts is important.

It’s possible to switch, but I’m not sure I will be accepted since my GPA is below the “recommended” requirement. I don’t know if it is competitive for internal transfers or not. Plus it is kind of late in the year the deadline probably has passed.

Go ask. What area do you want to move into? You are making a lot of assumptions without getting information. Get the hard facts first. How do you know the deadline has passed, what if the deadline isn’t until August? Maybe they consider a 2.5 GPA from accounting an acceptable GPA to transfer??
